The present is a time of overwhelming interest to all living. Rulers and statesmen, men who occupy positions of trust and authority, thinking men and women of all classes, have their attention fixed upon the events taking place about us. They are watching the relations that exist among the nations. They observe the intensity that is taking
possession of every earthly element and they recognize that something great and decisive is about to take place—that the world is on the verge of a stupendous crisis. — Prophets and Kings, 537 (c. 1914). LDE 11.1
The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching events of the greatest magnitude. The agencies of evil are combining their forces and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis.
Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones.

Troublous Times Soon to Come
The time of trouble, which is to increase until the end, is very near at hand. We have no time to lose. The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecies of the eleventh of Daniel have almost reached their final fulfillment. —The Review and Herald, November 24, 1904. LDE 12.1
The Time of Trouble — Trouble such as was not since there was a nation [Daniel 12:1] — is right upon us, and we are like the sleeping virgins. We are to awake and ask the Lord Jesus to place underneath us His everlasting arms, and carry us through the time of trial before us. —

THE CROWNING DECEPTION

"As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ.
The church has long professed to look to the Saviour's advent as the consummation of her hopes. Now the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come.
In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation. Revelation 1:13-15.
The glory that surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of triumph rings out upon the air: “Christ has come! Christ has come!” The people prostrate themselves in adoration before him, while he lifts up his hands and pronounces a blessing upon them, as Christ blessed His disciples when He was upon the earth.
His voice is soft and subdued, yet full of melody. In gentle, compassionate tones he presents some of the same gracious, heavenly truths which the Saviour uttered; he heals the diseases of the people, and then, in his assumed character of Christ, he claims to have changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and commands all to hallow the day which he has blessed.
He declares that those who persist in keeping holy the seventh day are blaspheming his name by refusing to listen to his angels sent to them with light and truth.
This is the strong, almost overmastering delusion. Like the Samaritans who were deceived by Simon Magus, the multitudes, from the least to the greatest, give heed to these sorceries, saying: This is “the great power of God.”" Acts 8:10.

THE SHAKING TIME
“Science, so-called, and religion will be placed in opposition to each other because finite men do not comprehend the power and greatness of God. These words of Holy Writ were presented to me, "Of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them" [Acts 20:30]. This will surely be seen among the people of God.--Ev 593 (1890).
“When the shaking comes, by the introduction of false theories, these surface readers, anchored nowhere, are like shifting sand. They slide into any position to suit the tenor of their feelings of bitterness.--TM 112 (1897).
“Not having received the love of the truth, they will be taken in the delusions of the enemy; they will give heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils and will depart from the faith.--6T 401 (1900).
“The enemy will bring in false theories, such as the doctrine that there is no sanctuary. This is one of the points on which there will be a departing from the faith.--Ev 224 (1905).
“One thing is certain: Those Seventh-day Adventists who take their stand under Satan's banner will first give up their faith in the warnings and reproofs contained in the Testimonies of God's Spirit.--3SM 84 (1903).
“The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God. "Where there is no vision, the people perish" (Prov. 29:18). Satan will work ingeniously, in different ways and through different agencies, to unsettle the confidence of God's remnant people in the true testimony.--1SM 48 (1890).
“The enemy has made his masterly efforts to unsettle the faith of our own people in the Testimonies. . . . This is just as Satan designed it should be, and those who have been preparing the way for the people to pay no heed to the warnings and reproofs of the Testimonies of the Spirit of God will see that a tide of errors of all kinds will spring into life.--3SM 83 (1890).
“It is Satan's plan to weaken the faith of God's people in the Testimonies. Next follows skepticism in regard to the vital points of our faith, the pillars of our position, then doubt as to the Holy Scriptures, and then the downward march to perdition. When the Testimonies, which were once believed, are doubted and given up, Satan knows the deceived ones will not stop at this; and he redoubles his efforts till he launches them into open rebellion, which becomes incurable and ends in destruction.”--4T 211.

Friends, how we need to heed these solemn warnings! Failure to do so will inevitably end in eternal loss! May the dear Lord bless and keep you this day!
"Four mighty angels hold back the powers of this earth till the servants of God are sealed in their foreheads. The nations of the world are eager for conflict, but they are held in check by the angels. When this restraining power is removed there will come a time of trouble and anguish. Deadly instruments of warfare will be invented.
Vessels with their living cargo will be entombed in the great deep. All who have not the spirit of truth will unite under the leadership of Satanic agencies, but they are to be kept under control till the time shall come for the great battle of Armageddon."—The S.D.A. The Whole World Will Be Involved in Ruin
Angels are now restraining the winds of strife that they may not blow until the world shall be warned of its coming doom, but a storm is gathering, ready to burst upon the earth, and when God shall bid His angels loose the winds there will be such a scene of strife as no pen can picture.—Education, 179, 180 (1903). {LDE 239.1}
The Saviour’s prophecy concerning the visitation of judgments upon Jerusalem is to have another fulfillment, of which that terrible desolation was but a faint shadow. In the fate of the chosen city we may behold the doom of a world that has rejected God’s mercy and trampled upon His law.—The Great Controversy, 36 (1911). {LDE 239.2}
Satan will then plunge the inhabitants of the earth into one great, final trouble. As the angels of God cease to hold in check the fierce winds of human passion, all the elements of strife will be let loose. The whole world will be involved in ruin more terrible than that which came upon Jerusalem of old.—The Great Controversy, 614 (1911). {LDE 239.3}
Why should those of the world who do not know these things that we believe and have been told of in the Spirit of Prophecy;-why should they have to be warning others about making the preparation that WE SHOULD BE TELLING THEM TO MAKE, BUT ARE NOT, OR SCARCELY SO AT BEST?
IS IT A CASE OF THE STONES CRYING OUT {Luke 19: 40} BECAUSE OF US HOLDING OUR PEACE?
SHAME ON US BRETHREN! SHOULD NOT WE BE THE ONES TO BE FOREMOST IN TELLING THE WORLD OF THEIR DANGER?
ARE WE NOT LIVING NOW ON BORROWED TIME SINCE PIONEER DAYS?
Our Pioneers believed these things and didn't hesitate to tell those around them.
WE ARE NOW MANY, MANY YEARS PAST PIONEER DAYS, AND HAVE GROWN LUKEWARM;-TRULY THE CHURCH OF LAODICEA, AS SPOKEN OF IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION {Ch. 3: 14-22}
God has been good to us in giving us extra time to warn the world, especially since the world changing events of 2001 and what we call 9/11, when those great towers in New York exploded in fire and fell to the ground.
It is mentioned in Testimonies vol. 9, and begins on page 11 (9/11!!) through to page 13 when during those several days at least, the news was full of the story. It has been truly said that our world has not been the same world since that fearful event.
We are told in the Spirit of Prophecy that there is no preparation possible for the Great Time of Trouble, when God's angels will care for us.

The End of Religious Liberty
The law of God, through the agency of Satan, is to be made void. In our land of boasted freedom religious liberty will come to an end. The contest will be decided over the Sabbath question, which will agitate the whole world.—Evangelism, 236 (1875). {LDE 144.1}
A great crisis awaits the people of God. Very soon our nation will attempt to enforce upon all the observance of the first day of the week as a sacred day. In doing this they will not scruple to compel men against the voice of their own conscience to observe the day the nation declares to be the Sabbath.—The Review and Herald Extra, December 11, 1888. {LDE 144.2}
Seventh-day Adventists will fight the battle over the seventh-day Sabbath. The authorities in the United States and in other countries will rise up in their pride and power and make laws to restrict religious liberty.—Manuscript 78, 1897. {LDE 144.3}
The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience.—The Great Controversy, 588 (1911). {LDE 144.4}

End-Time Conflict

“Terrible is the struggle that takes place between the forces of good and of evil in important centers where the messengers of truth are called upon to labor. "We wrestle not against flesh and blood," declares Paul, "but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world." Ephesians 6:12.
Till the close of time there will be a conflict between the church of God and those who are under the control of evil angels.
The early Christians were often called to meet the powers of darkness face to face. By sophistry and by persecution the enemy endeavored to turn them from the true faith. At the present time, when the end of all things earthly is rapidly approaching, Satan is putting forth desperate efforts to ensnare the world. He is devising many plans to occupy minds and to divert attention from the truths essential to salvation.
In every city his agencies are busily organizing into parties those who are opposed to the law of God. The archdeceiver is at work to introduce elements of confusion and rebellion, and men are being fired with a zeal that is not according to knowledge.
Wickedness is reaching a height never before attained, and yet many ministers of the gospel are crying, "Peace and safety."
But God's faithful messengers are to go steadily forward with their work. Clothed with the panoply of heaven, they are to advance fearlessly and victoriously, never ceasing their warfare until every soul within their reach shall have received the message of truth for this time.” AA 219-220
THE EXAMPLE OF CHRIST

“Every worker who follows the example of Christ will be prepared to receive and use the power that God has promised to His church for the ripening of earth’s harvest.
Morning by morning, as the heralds of the gospel kneel before the Lord and renew their vows of consecration to Him, He will grant them the presence of His Spirit, with its reviving, sanctifying power. As they go forth to the day’s duties, they have the assurance that the unseen agency of the Holy Spirit enables them to be “labourers together with God.” ” AA 56
“None need fail of attaining, in his sphere, to perfection of Christian character. By the sacrifice of Christ, provision has been made for the believer to receive all things that pertain to life and godliness. God calls upon us to reach the standard of perfection and places before us the example of Christ’s character. In His humanity, perfected by a life of constant resistance of evil, the Saviour showed that through co-operation with Divinity, human beings may in this life attain to perfection of character. This is God’s assurance to us that we, too, may obtain complete victory.” AA 531

A STORM IS COMING
Relentless in its Fury
"This is the day of the Lord's preparation. He says: "Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. The great work from which the mind should not be diverted, is the consideration of our safety in the sight of God. The storm is coming, relentless in its fury. Are we prepared to meet it? Are our feet on the Rock of Ages? Are we one with Christ, as he is one with the Father?" RH, Dec. 27, 1898.
We know natural disasters are increasing on the earth and will get worse as we get closer to the Second Coming of Christ. But these dreams speak to my heart of another storm soon coming when everything that can be shaken will be shaken: "We are in the shaking time, the time when everything that can be shaken will be shaken. The Lord will not excuse those who know the truth if they do not in word and deed obey His commands. If we make no effort to win souls to Christ we shall be held responsible for the work we might have done, but did not do because of our spiritual indolence. Those who belong to the Lord's kingdom must work earnestly for the saving of souls. They must do their part to bind up the law and seal it among the disciples." CM 12.
"The time is coming when we cannot sell at any price. The decree will soon go forth prohibiting men to buy or sell of any man save him that hath the mark of the beast. We came near having this realized in California a short time since, but this was only the threatening of the blowing of the four winds. As yet they are held by the four angels. We are not just ready. There is a work yet to be done, and then the angels will be bidden to let go, that the four winds may blow upon the earth.
"In the last great conflict in the controversy with Satan those who are loyal to God will see every earthly support cut off. Because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers they will be forbidden to buy or sell. LDE 148.
"Now is the time to prepare. The seal of God will never be placed upon the forehead of an impure man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of the ambitious, world-loving man or woman. It will never be placed upon the forehead of men or women of false tongues or deceitful hearts. All who receive the seal must be without spot before God--candidates for heaven. Go forward, my brethren and sisters. I can only write briefly upon these points at this time, merely calling your attention to the necessity of preparation. Search the Scriptures for yourselves, that you may understand the fearful solemnity of the present hour." CCh 334 - The Coming Crisis.

Now let’s take a look at a testimony from two men regarding a startling comment made by Ellen White in 1908.

Bro. Will Ross now deceased was a personal friend of mine for about 45 years. In our church fellowship we very often spent Sabbath afternoons discussing his experience in the message, and his conversations with Mrs. Ellen G. White.
About 1908, while living in Loma Linda near Sister White, he frequently accompanied her in her walks, and would discuss the message and future events. On one of these occasions, while waiting at the railroad depot, in company with Sister McInterfer and Elder D. E. Robinson, her granddaughter's husband, Sister White related to the three of them about the storm of persecution that was to come upon Seventh-day Adventists. Brother Will related it to me as follows:
"Sister White told us as we three stood there on the depot platform, that a terrible storm of persecution was coming like a windstorm that blew down every standing object. There was not a Seventh-day Adventist to be seen. They, like the disciples, forsook Christ and fled. All who had sought positions were never seen again.
"After the storm there was a calm, then the Adventists arose like a great flock of sheep, but there were no shepherds. They all waited in earnest prayer for help and wisdom, and the Lord answered by helping them to choose leaders from among them who had never sought positions before. They prayed earnestly for the Holy Spirit which was poured out upon them making them fully ready for service. They then went forth 'fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners,' to give this message to the world. "I was astonished, and asked if that applied to Loma Linda, as we were looking in that direction. Sister White replied to my question by stating that it applied to the entire denominational world. It so stunned me that I did not ask any more questions." --- Will Ross, Boulder, Colorado.
In the year 1943 when Elder D. E. Robinson was visiting the churches in Colorado, I was serving on the platform the Sabbath that Elder Robinson visited the Boulder Church, having with him the large Bible which Sister White held in her hand and leafing through during one of her visions.
At the close of the service Brother Ross spoke with Elder Robinson about when he, Sister Mcinterfer and Sister White were standing on the depot platform visiting together, and Sister White related to him about the terrible storm of persecution that was coming to Seventh-day Adventists. Elder Robinson replied, "Yes, Brother, Ross, I remember it."
So I documented this reply January 15, 1946, not wishing to forget this important narration related to me by Brother Ross. I frequently discussed it with him in later years, and his statement never varied. - [signed] Elmer M. Johnson.

So first we saw the newsletter by Danny Vierra which related testimonies of recent dreams by numerous SDA’s concerning great storms that are coming. The individuals who had the dreams related these storms to storms of persecution. Then next we saw this comment by EGW that a great storm is coming. Here we have both sources complimenting each other concerning the storms of persecution.
“As the storm approaches, a large class who have professed faith in the third angel’s message, but have not been sanctified through obedience to the truth, abandon their position and join the ranks of the opposition…. Men of talent and pleasing address, who once rejoiced in the truth, employ their powers to deceive and mislead souls. They become the most bitter enemies of their former brethren” (The Great Controversy, p. 608).
This coming storm will create a shaking in the church as nothing we have ever seen before. When persecution comes, the wheat will be separated from the chaff, or the sheep from the goats. This event is just around the corner.
Notice this comment by Ellen White concerning the New Age Adventist Church that has taken over the world church today:
"The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith, and engaging in a process of reorganization. Were this reformation to take place, what would result? The principles of truth that God in His wisdom has given to the remnant church would be discarded. Our religion would be changed. The fundamental principles that have sustained the work for the last fifty years would be accounted as error. A new organization would be established. Books of a new order would be written. A system of intellectual philosophy would be introduced. The founders of this system would go into the cities, and do a wonderful work. The Sabbath of course, would be lightly regarded, as also God who created it. Nothing would be allowed to stand in the way of the new movement. The leaders would teach that virtue is better than vice, but God being removed, they would place their dependence on human power, which, without God, is worthless. Their foundation would be built on the sand, and storm and tempest would sweep away the structure." Series B No. 2 54,55, or 1 SM 204, 205
This new age conference church structure will be swept away in the coming storms. Pressure will be applied and the structure will be swept away.
These storms may be events surrounding the enforcement of the Sunday Laws that are coming soon. Great disasters will be in the land, natural disasters and also perhaps an economic collapse. Then perhaps some tremendous events also will take place, causing the world to assume that God is angry with the inhabitants of planet Earth. Sabbath keepers will be pointed out as the cause of pain and suffering that has been inflicted through the various disasters. All-out rage and contempt will be directed toward those who keep the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments. It is only through earnest prayer and humility that the Holy Spirit will come to our aid and enable us to survive this great and terrible storm.
What does the Bible say about these storms?
The recent dreams that were featured in Danny Vierra's newsletter, and written by Dr. Diane Barnett, contain mainly storms with water that threaten the lives of God's people. They seem to symbolize storms of persecution.
Notice here in Revelation 12:15-17, these verses seem to fit together as one unit, in light of these recent dreams:
“15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood.
Verse 15 may be referencing this flood of persecution that is coming soon, aimed at God's faithful people. Verse 14 ended in 1798. In verse 17, this war has not taken place yet, but will happen after 1798, after we receive the Spirit of Prophecy or the testimony of Jesus Christ, so after 1844. We have not yet seen this war, because it is a future war that we are about to see. It is a flood of persecution that is coming, such as a war against those that “keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
Notice also Revelation 7:1 “And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: [and there were] sealed an hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.”
Winds of strife and persecution are coming but the 144,000 will make it through the storm. (Doug Batchelor thinks this group is made up of faithful SDA’s) A storm of persecution is coming along with the Mark of the Beast showdown applying the pressure on us.
At this same time we see the economy about collapse as many are saying could happen. An article recently appeared in the Wall Street Journal saying we are in an economic depression. Natural disasters are increasing too. Perhaps a great disaster will occur and the Pope or Satan personating Christ will point out Sabbath keepers as the cause of such. A great storm will then begin to blow across the earth.
Let us all draw nearer to the Lord in these closing hours.
